In 1969, at age 14, Maria and her parents emigrated from Cuba to the U.S. in search for a better life. After graduating High School with honors, she went to work for GTE Communication Systems. Because of Maria’s tenacity and amazing work ethic, she quickly moved up the corporate ladder, she advanced from a simple Typist to a Telecommunications Engineer. Maria developed strong communication skills, attention to detail, organization skills and an ability to listen to the client’s needs.
On nights and weekends, she attended Triton College and graduated with An Associates of Applied Science in Architectural Technology, always with a thought of joining an architectural firm, but because she really loved the engineering and technology aspect of her GTE engineering career, she stayed.
After 15 years in the telecommunications industry, the company ran into hard times, and Maria was faced with another important career choice.
With all this experience, in 1990 with the support of her husband Noel she joined the REALTOR community with Coldwell Banker and stayed there for 8 years, then In 1999 she joined RE/MAX Central working with the “Sharon Falco Group”, when Sharon Falco opened her own independent company, Maria moved and joined the new formed company, and in 2004 Became their Managing Broker until July of 2009. As we all know branding has become so important in the current Real Estate market that Maria has since re-joined the RE/MAX Central family were she had started back in 1999, she is very happy to bring the power of an internationally recognized organization to help market her listings and continue to soar as the saying goes “Above the Crowd”.
In August of 2009, Disney started seeking experienced Illinois agents to work with consumers in our market place that were interested in purchasing an ownership interest in the Disney Vacation Club, Maria, one out of 30 total agents that were chosen, attended extensive training with Disney in Orlando, in May of 2010 Maria was awarded the designation of ISA- Authorized Independent Sales Advisor for the Disney Vacation Club, this new adventure helping people in another facet of their lives, their “Dream Vacation” was a great ride. Although this program was recently terminated by Disney, Maria found the whole Disney experience to be a great opportunity for professional growth, specifically learning the ins and outs of how the Disney empire markets and sales their time shares and especially how they emphasize their customer satisfaction.
Education and the total satisfaction of her clients is Maria‘s number one priority. With 26 years of accomplishments in the real estate business, $54+ million dollars in career sales, a Managing Broker’s License and many other Designations, Maria strives to stay ahead of the game, not bad for an immigrant from Cuba in search of the “American Dream”. Maria loves to work with Sellers as well as Buyers and enjoys making their dreams and hopes a reality.
